reschedule today's game after linebacker jovan bell cher. casey wyan is in kansas city this morning. local media is indicating they had some sort of fight on friday night, maybe even following a concert. what do we know about this? >> reporter: well well, do know that police say there was some sort of a disagreement, randi, between the two friday night, early saturday morning, but in speaking to neighbors, they tell us that that is something that was very, very, very uncommon. as far as they knew the couple had lived together for about a year, and by all appearances got along great. we spoke with the next door neighbor who did not want us to use his name, said he often spoke with jovan. jovan didn't want to talk about football because the chiefs are undergoing a horrible season. only one win. he was very proud of their daughter 3 months old and that the couple seemed to be getting along very well. over a couple of weeks ago jovan's mother arrived to visit for the holidays, and she was there when that initial tragic shooting happened, randi. >> we also know that before he shot himsel

reports of a tsunami. but all of those cities along the coast have been told to evacuate, just as a precaution. you can imagine, they're taking that warning very seriously after that whey experienced last year. >> i was going to say, any immediate dangers reported right now, though? >> reporter: we are not hearing of any immediate reports of damages or injuries. i got off the phone with tepco that operates the fukushima nuclear plant. they have no reports. they had about 3,000 people working there at the time. or they have about 3,000 people working there on a daily basis. they have all been evacuated, told to stay indoors. but no reports of damages there, as well as other cities. but, of course, it was just 45 minutes ago. we're still monitoring right now. >> okay. that's akiko fujita on the phone. an earthquake, along the northeast coast. tsunami warnings. we'll keep an eye on that and bring you the latest. you can tell the jolt from that camera, how it's swaying. and so reminiscent of that scene we saw in the devastating tsunami back in 2011. again, we'll keep an eye on it t

. let's take a look at the "morning papers." we start with our parade of papers, "the kansas city star." andrea, chime in here. despite a dramatic appearance from 89-year-old former senator bob dole, the senate failed to pass a u.n. disability treaty by just five votes. combat veterans like senators john mccain and john kerry delivered impassioned speeches, but dissenting voters said the treaty could pose a threat to national sovereignty. this is a stretch. more than 150 countries have signed the treaty designed to create unilateral rights for people with disabilities. it's actually based on america's ada act which bob dole helped pass more than 20 years ago. and you know, andrea, watching this american hero on the floor, a guy who is disabled, left part of himself, as he has said and others have said, on the battlefields of western europe, coming in and making a plea. i'm really surprised that this was killed by fringe concerns, fringe, fringe concerns. >> and it was, in fact, his fellow senators, several of the people who served with bob dole, who were the key votes here. and john ke

was held at a game against the kansas city chiefs and carolina panthers. yesterday, chiefs' linebacker jovan belcher killed himself at the stadium after killing his girlfriend. >>> left at least five afghan nationals dead, nine suicide bombers struck the base, one blew himself up outside the main gate. the remaining bombers were killed. officials tell nbc news at least 18 people were wounded. nbc has the latest from kabul. >> reporter: craig, it seemed to have been a well-coordinated and complex attack. taliban insurgents tried to target jalalabad airfield when a car ladened with explosives targeted a gate there, allowing insurgents to try to trickle in. that's where they were met with afghan security forces who are engaged the taliban, in the end killing nine insurgents. five afghans were also killed, including two civilians and three members of the afghan special forces. according to nato here in afghanistan, they say the taliban were not able to breach the perimeter of the base and no u.s. service members were killed in today's attack. in fact, they see the attack as a success for t
